Feed

In a recent book I read (out of extra time I had after I finished my exam) I decide to cruise over to my teachers bookshelf and gaze quickly for a new read. About to leave the bookshelf I notice a bald headed man on a book cover with the word feed on his scalp I pick up the book and breeze through the summary. Getting more interested in the book and take it back to my desk and start reading. Apparently in the story people have these things in there brain call 'The Feed' it like broadcast advertisements and new trends happening in the world. The characters also communicate with each other sometimes through the feed which I thought was pretty cool.

The main character and his friends decide to go to the moon for spring break. They visit this bounce house type place and hang out there. Soon the main character sees this girl who keeps to herself. He becomes attracted to her and soon invites her to hang out with him and his mates. They go to a party but are soon struck with a virus that a strange man gave them which shut down there feeds and they wake up in some hospital.

Now this is only how far I got in my story but I have a few predictions.
                                                                   Predictions

  • By the way his friends acted towards the girl they wont like her very much especially the other girls
  • Maybe the boys opinion about this girl will change and he will see how truly boring or weird she is?
  • Maybe they will never get there feeds back on and get out of the hospital
  • Maybe the Virus was meant to happen to them and only them
  • Maybe he wont find his friends since they woke up in separate rooms and haven't found eachother

Reflection

Through my experience blogging hadn't always been easy in the beginning; but to tell the truth I was actually kind of excited to try blogging for the first time. I really struggled with not rambling on and trying to make my post the minimum length without going off detail and sticking to the main idea of the blog post itself. I can kind of see my blog post being more on topic and not rambling on as much. How I improved this is by choosing stories or news articles that really stick out to me and I can create a really good blog post on its plot or concept of the story or article and I've seen this technique has really helped me in my other blog post. One strength I really admired that I had was I could make really good predictions and good ideas that I kind of added to the story or news article.

Now I believe this blog post I chosen best shows how I talk about the theme in great detail and also showing my strength and technique I talked about before. http://chickennuggets14.blogspot.com/2013/09/summer-reading-c.html
(I highlighted important details in yellow and blue)

Some goals I have for my reading is to stick with books a little while longer instead of not giving them a chance and returning them immediately. I will also be keeping my technique I'm using for my blog post which Is another goal of mine. I really need to work on moving out of my comfort zone in books I read and spreading out from the regular realistic fiction I always read. Some things I should definitely improve on in my writing is not rambling on and on. Also staying on  detail and executing the idea of the blog post through clearly.

What Jamie Saw (Currently Reading)

                                                                    Current Reading
In my book What Jamie Saw its about a boy who witnesses his baby sister being thrown by his mothers boyfriend Van. luckily jamie's mother catches the baby just in time before any damage is done to the child. After the incident they stay with a family; So there mother can figure out what they will do next. As there mother packs theres things Jamie begs for her to bring his magician box. I believe this will have a slightly big impact in the story that revovles around jamie and his family.

I recently stopped reading the book; but if I read any further predictions i would of made is
  • jamie would start to ask questions about van and where he would go in the future
  • I predict his family will move on from this incident and jamie will get use to Van not being there anymore
  • Jamie will start to fight whats going on and not accept it

I cared not to read the book anymore is because the conflict is very slow and really  dont get eased you into the story as well. its a sorta "read on and hopes it gets more intersting" kinda book. Im not really in tune with those kind of books and I easily get lost in those kinds stories.

Speak

In a book a read before called speak; a girl named Melinda is raped at a party. It changes her life and personality forever. Her coping skills are not the best, which is not talking.  This not only afffects her but friends and family. Its gets her into trouble because people are tying to get her to talk which is very difficult at times.

When she enters arts class her very outgoing and outspoken teacher gives her an simple but difficult project. Over time her and her art teacher bond more than others which helps her open up more.

Current Reading

In my book Remembering Raquel; The main -Character Raquel seems to develop more In what i read so far in the book. When the others have flash backs of meeting Raquel they purpose her as "The fat girl who is very quiet". Now in some chapters they show Raquel's post on her personal blog and she seems to be more outgoing with some commenter's on her blog. Though at school she is "invisible' and no one ever notices she even there in class.

I feel as i progress more in my book they will show Raquel being more active or trying to be active with classmates of hers. Or even vice versa; I think her online life would stay they same as she keeps blogging and speaking to her online buddies and being more open with them. Than people in her school/Class. I'm hoping to be expecting more from Raquel and her peers.

Summer Reading c:

Beneath a Meth Moon was the title of my summer reading book. The theme of my novel was there's always hope in the future. I believe this is the theme because in my novel the main character struggles with a meth addiction which cripples her life and almost her future. She also struggles to find herself and her home. In my opinion this what not a typical  drug-addict story. It had more depth to it which I like vey much.It also had many more themes I could of chose from which means the book was very detailed and organized.

Another theme I would choose from is never give up is probably a huge one in the book and probably expected to come from a book like this. I thought the main character would die at the end but she finally made it through this and got the help she needed. I could never stop reading this book.

Beneath a Meth Moon article: Mine was a simple but good review on my book.
